Humber Polytechnic was founded in 1967. With this exciting news came the Department of Athletics. The administrators within the athletic department pondered possible nicknames for the college athletic teams. It was in that instance that a hawk soared across the valley field that the campus overlooked. It was a natural choice, as the hawk represented the qualities that Humber Athletics would aspire to.  It is powerful, a predator and graceful. The name Humber Hawk not only sounded right, it perfectly embodied both sport and competition.
