Humber Polytechnic’s Fashion Arts students have begun preparing for the annual fashion show with model casting and planning in progress.

The shows set to take place on April 16, 2026, at the Barrett Centre for Technology Innovation.

The Humber fashion show is a student-run event that aims to help participants gain hands-on experience in the fashion industry.

Deven Thompson, a second-year Fashion Arts and Business student, is working as a co-project manager for this year's show.

His role includes managing multiple student teams that handle styling, creative direction, show production, choreography, music, hospitality, and more.

“We get to learn event planning, budgeting, styling, scouting models and everything that needs to be done in order to execute a fashion show,” Thompson said.

About 50 students attended the model casting call on Feb. 6 at Humbers North campus. The selection process this year was highly competitive, with only 20 spots available.

Judges looked for models with a bold personality and strong runway presence that matches the show’s upbeat theme.

Organizers say this year's vision will focus on upcycled fashion, including lots of bold denim looks.

Thompson says he is excited for the audience to see the size and diversity of the cast this year.

“I'm excited for them to see how diverse the cast is this year, and as well as how big the cast is,” he said.

Viewers can expect to see a live DJ performance, food and drinks, and a few VIP guests who have not been announced yet.

“I’ve never been to a fashion show before,” said Tawana Vushe, a first-year Humber student. “I’m excited to see students showcase their fashion ideas.”
