Students who are struggling with coming up with the ideal routine of getting up early for classes and not being able to control their screen time will get the chance to change all of that at an event that will be happening on Feb. 24 at 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the LRC building.
This Sleep Hygiene Workshop is designed to give students a good understanding about why is sleep so important and how it improves academic success when you are trying to keep with a busy and consistent schedule.
At this event, students will get to share tips and strategies with colleagues and staff members from different programs. Among the topics for discussion will be controlling screen time on a day, how to have a better sleeping schedule for better results during midterms and feeling energized throughout the day.
Also, students can look forward to learning about the negative side of poor sleep hygiene like not getting enough sleep, getting high stress levels, foggy memory and lack of motivation for school.
Mannate Singh, a student from the early childhood education program, thinks that the workshop should have a good effect on students.
“This workshop, if people are attending, then it’s definitely can help them in the long run because I’m currently in my placement and sometimes it gets tiring for me since everything is online with different techniques” she said.
Caoina Sabin, a second year student from the CICE (Community Integration Through Co-operative Education) program, said paying attention to social media use is important.
“We should know how much time we spend on social media because you can’t function when you do sleep late and it’s not good for your physical health as well,” she said.
Humber students face challenges, especially going into exams right before Reading Week when it comes to scrolling on social media and losing track of time.
The Sleep Hygiene Workshop is a way for students to get through the winter semester and share knowledge with students who need it.
